Measuring Outcomes

Each new pupil will be assessed in ways that measure the severity of their autism and its impact on their adaptive functioning, social responsiveness and social communication. Parents’ contribution to assessments is vital. Pupils will be reassessed annually and may (with parental consent) take part in external research looking at the efficacy of Bright Futures’ provision of learning experiences in remediating the core difficulties of autism.

As well as enabling families to see their progress, measuring outcomes also provides evidence of the effectiveness of our approach, helping us report externally on our progress.  We will share our progress reports and evidence with the local authorities that fund our pupils’ statements and with any other organisations that provide funding for our school.

There are plans to undertake high level outcomes research with experienced academic researchers, subject to funding.
