Chorlton Express Transport Ltd was founded in 1984 by Michael Chorlton.
Michael Chorlton commenced his employment in a small car garage located near Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough as a mechanic before gaining his HGV licence and took a position as a tipper wagon driver frequenting the local quarries.
Liking the transport industry, Michael was offered a position at a large local hauliers driving Class II vehicles, his delivery route was Cumbria. From the wheel Michael moved to the transport office gaining his CPC National and becoming traffic manager.
Sadly in1984 Michael was made redundant and decide to start up Chorlton Express Transport Ltd. Michael bought a small Luton box van and as a one man band started to deliver parcels around the local areas, using his garage as a warehouse. Soon the garage was full and a kind neighbour offered Michael the use of his garage too however it did not take long to fill the neighbour's garage and Michael decided to move to his first commercial premises at Calderbrook, Littleborough.
Slowly over the years the majority of the family became involved in the expanding business and have brought Chorlton Express Transport Ltd to where we are where we are now in our state of the art high security depot on heywood distribution park
Michael is now enjoying retirement but still remains very interested in the company and is always there to offer good business advice to his three children Pamela, Lee and Lynda. |
