Adey McDermott is a solo singer of the highest order. Although experienced in many genres, Adey is currently touring the North-West with a suberb tribute show to swing superstar Michael Buble. Adey's smooth yet powerful vocals ideally complement the superb classic tunes and big band arrangements of the multi award-winning canadian crooner, including Feelin Good, Under My Skin, I'm your Man, Me 'n' Mrs Jones, Tenderness, and many more. The son of a Belfast singer, Adey grew up in Rochdale surrounded by a large musical family, and it wasn't long before Adey's own unique talents came to the fore. Now with almost thirty years experience behind him, Adey's previous collaborations include Take That, The Christians, Paul Young, Lisa Stansfield, Diane Charlemagne (Urban Cookie collective/Moby), Denise Johnson (Primal Scream), Melanie Williams (Sub Sub), Swing Out Sister, Brian Hargreaves (Heather Small), Bola, A Certain Ratio, and Luke Flowers (Haggis Horns) to name but a few. Adey started out as vocalist with local rock band Munich, and although he still cites many rock bands amongst his early influences, he soon began to emulate the vocal styles of his greatest musical influences, the likes of Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Jackie Wilson and various motown artists, in his desire to develop his own unique style. With this in mind, he formed soul/pop band Friends of Kane, with long-time friends Ash Taylor (who went on to work with New Order bassist Pete Hook in Revenge) and Daryl Fitton (who went on to enjoy commercial success as Bola). Friends of Kane received widespread local acclaim for their unique original style but by 1990, in his quest to secure a recording contract, Adey formed soul band Eastman, with whom he collaborated to co-write Lisa Stansfield's US no.1 hit "The Real Thing". During his time with Eastman, Adey went on to work with the likes of Take That, The Christians, Paul Young, and a string of female recording artists who would go on to fame and fortune in their own right. In addition to his solo Michael Buble shows, Adey can also be seen performing with Brendan Decko in a fantastic swing / soul combo act known simply as 'Swing To Soul'. Incorporating many of the superb swing tunes from his solo show, it also features the superb vocal talents of brother Brendan performing many soul, funk and motown classics. Adey is currently involved in several other projects, notably as lead singer, co-writer and percussionist in original funk outfit Pornstarr who are currently putting the finishing touches to their second album, expected out in early spring of next year.
