In 1994 Crowd Productions developed a dye-cast aluminium casing design for a new line of pneumatic valves developed by Cash Engineering Research. The external design of the valve needed to communicate not only the innovative nature of the internal operation but also an attention to detail and precision in manufacture and execution. This was vital, as European competitors in this field of industrial manufacture have moved to a very high level of finish on their products. An often-prevailing Australian attitude, that customers do not interpret poor external design as a reflection on the whole product or that such attention is irrelevant or counterproductive, was clearly going to be misplaced in this market. Cash reported a very strong and positive response to the valve and that the visual design and finish did much to reinforce and even pre-empt the company's own description of the valves innovative operation and built quality.
