About us

Respite North West is a service registered to support children and adults with a Learning Disability and or Physical Disabilities. The founder of the service is Debi Kirk who is a parent of a child with learning disabilities and whom was motivated to create a service which could be flexible in meeting “tailored” individual needs. The service will be 12 years old in 2010.

At the heart of the formation of Respite North West we understand the need for service providers to deliver seamless services, from the moment needs are identified, and throughout the contractual requirement. Further, we believe that as we are a service registered for both children and adults we can facilitate the inevitable transition process with the least amount of disruption, thus reducing anxieties and fears about change.

We enable individuals to maximise their own potential and opportunities as an individual and as a member of their community. We achieve this by using dedicated staff members who are trained and supported to deliver services in an informed yet discreet way.

Community Support Services

Under the guise of Community Support the scope for service delivery is endless whether it is a request for support to pursue a hobby, social activity or simply to facilitate an outing. With Respite North West there are no generic solutions, we give you just what you need. No square pegs for round holes. We deliver workable solutions and support designed to help you.

Our registration with the Care Quality Commission also means that our staff can meet an individuals personal care needs, where required, thus minimising any perceived obstructions in the way of an individuals aspirations and goals.

We also operate a key worker system which means there is a commitment to service development and growth opportunity achieved through a consistent approach and the continuity of effective working relationships.

Health Services including, Technological Dependency

We at Respite NW acknowledge that long term “high tech” care is an increasingly frequent and usually high cost intervention for babies, children and adults who have a wide range of diagnoses and whose impairments span the entire care spectrum from simple to complex and require varying levels of technological support according to their medical conditions.

We perceive one of the most challenging aspects of providing quality of services and improving the experience of individuals has been the difficulty implementing best-practice in the assessment of need, the organisation of discharge from hospital and the effective continued management of a package of services to enable individuals and families to live as near ordinary lives as possible at home.

Our experiences over the years has led us to develop strategies which focus on complex care needs at home and we have developed a service model, which combines academic knowledge, service delivery and commercial efficiency. We are dedicated to removing the barriers to caring for patients in their own homes, and providing support for patients, their families and health professionals.
