DO I NEED PLANNED PERMISSION FOR A MEZZANINE FLOOR? Planning permission is not usually required, however a building regulations full plans approval should be acquired. This entails submitting an application to your local authority together with structural calculations and drawings to ensure the floor is designed and installed correctly. We can handle the entire process including the preparation of all required documentation. Although this process can take several weeks this should not delay any installation as usually work can commence within 48 hours of the local authority being informed of intentions. WILL A MEZZANINE FLOOR DAMAGE MY BUILDING? All our mezzanines are fully independent structures and other than being fixed into a building's existing concrete floor slab they are not tied to a building in any way. They can be installed and removed without altering or damaging the building in which they are sited. DOES THE FLOOR NEED FIRE PROTECTION? If the floor is to be used for any purpose other than storage, yes fire protection is required. It is also needed if the floor extends to over 50% of the building footprint or exceeds 10m in any direction. We can supply and install all required fire protection to meet current building requirements, although we only supply this in new equipment. WILL A FORKLIFT BE REQUIRED TO AID IN THE CONSTRUCTION? Normally a forklift truck will be required, however, should one not be available we can supply a suitable machine or genie lift. All our site teams have current training and certification in the use of forklifts and necessary materials handling equipment.
