Zoe Thompson
Zoe Thompson is Chair of Bright Futures Autism Limited, combining her half-time job in a local authority with her voluntary work as advocate and campaigner for children with autism, where she has developed extensive networks within the autism ‘community’.
She has been active locally as Chair of the Education Campaign Consortium, a group that has secured support for setting up a local parents’ forum and the employment of a Parent Participation Worker for families of children with disabilities in Oldham. She has accepted invitations to speak at events such as a fringe meeting at a recent Party Conference and a debate about autism education at the House of Commons.
Zoe is one of the two parent representatives on the group that is developing guidelines for the recognition, referral and diagnosis of autism in children and young people for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).
She is currently working towards qualification as an RDI (Relationship Development Intervention) Consultant.
